Edgeley Rural Fire Department was founded by residents who understood that in rural North Dakota, help doesn't always arrive in time — unless you build it yourself. Today, we are a fully volunteer department serving the unincorporated communities surrounding Edgeley and the broader Richland County area.
Our crew responds to structure fires, vehicle collisions, medical emergencies, hazardous material calls, and search-and-rescue operations across a wide rural service district. Every member trains regularly, maintains their apparatus, and answers the alarm because this is their home too.
From structure fires on the prairie to vehicle accidents on County Road 27, our volunteer crew is trained and equipped to handle the emergencies that matter most to our community.
Full structural fire response for homes, agricultural buildings, and commercial properties throughout our rural service district. We operate with engine companies and brush units built for wide-area coverage.
Rapid response to motor vehicle collisions on rural highways and county roads. Our crew is trained in vehicle extrication, traffic control, and first-response medical care until EMS transport arrives.
Our volunteers include certified EMTs and paramedics who provide life-saving first response on scene before ambulance transport, reducing critical response times in our rural service area.
Specialized brush fire response for grass fires, agricultural burns, and wildland-urban interface incidents. Our brush trucks and water tenders are purpose-built for North Dakota terrain and conditions.
Initial response and containment for hazardous material incidents involving agricultural chemicals, fuel spills, and transportation releases. We coordinate with state and federal agencies as needed.
Free fire safety presentations for schools, smoke detector installations, and public education programs. We believe an informed community is a safer community.
We are part of the town we serve — attending the same churches, shopping at the same stores, and raising our families on the same roads we protect on the clock.
Annual summer program introducing young people to fire service careers, safety skills, and the values of community service and teamwork.
Regular community events where residents can meet the crew, see the apparatus up close, and learn how we respond to emergencies in our area.
We sustain operations through community fundraisers, grant funding, and donations. Every contribution directly supports our equipment, training, and station facilities.
Our volunteer firefighters are on call around the clock. Dial immediately if you see smoke, smell gas, or need emergency assistance.
